2009-10 REDSHIRTED:
Went 11-4 in his first season in the Maroon and Gold and began season with a 4-2 mark at 149, and closed with a 7-4 tally at 157 and won three matches by fall and one by major decision and lost by fall in his first career match in 4:38 to Austin Carmichael of Augustana on 1/16 hisfirst career win came on 1/16 in the next match, as a 13-4 major over Matt Taylor  was a winner in his first match at 157, avenging the loss to Austin Carmichael with a 604 decision on 1/30  closed the season as a champion at the Duhawk open on 2/6, going 4-0 and beating Brad Nardick of Wisconsin 7-4 in the championship match and went 3-2 at the North Country Open on 1/30, winning two matches by fall over Nic Harrison of Southwest Minnesota (1:51) and over Kerron Williams of MSU Moorhead (2:41) his first competition came on 1/16 at the Worthington Open, placing fourth with a 4-2 mark.
HIGH SCHOOL:
2009 graduate of Chaska High School was coached by Ned Chuck and Mike Houck and five-time letter winner and two-time state place winner, finishing third at the 2008 Minnesota high school state tournament at 135 pounds and second in 2009 was considered the No. 11-rated recruit in his weight class and compiled a 177-31 career high school record was also honored as an NHSCA Junior National All-American and earned All-American honors from both USA Wrestling and the NHSCA and an "A" Honor Roll member and a member of the National Honor society and finished with a grade point average of 3.75.

PERSONAL:
Born Dec. 19, 1990, son of Harry and Sue Smith and has an older brother, Zach (29) and an older sister Sarah (39) is undeclared on a major and lists most memorable sports thrill as earning All-America honors.
